| Reverse description | The reverse presents a dramatic high-relief effigy of Ragnar Lothbrok, the legendary Norse chieftain, depicted as a bearded warrior clad in fur-trimmed armor and an ornate horned helmet, brandishing a sword in his right hand while grasping a round shield in his left. Two Viking longships with red-and-white striped sails rendered in color enamel flank him on either side, sailing upon stylized waves, with a coastal settlement visible in the background. The composition is framed by engraved Norse interlace borders on the sides. The name RAGNAR LOTHBROK appears in a curved inscription along the lower field on a decorative banner. |

| Additional information |
Ragnar Lothbrok is a figure from Old Norse legend — possibly a composite of several Viking-Age chieftains, possibly entirely fictional. No serious historical consensus places him as a real individual. Cameroon's relationship to Viking history is, to put it plainly, nonexistent. This coin exists because the Central African CFA franc zone has become a reliable vehicle for European bullion dealers and novelty minting houses seeking sovereign authorization for collector-market pieces with no connection to the issuing nation.
KM#706 is one of dozens of such issues struck for Cameroon in recent years by third-party minting operations, typically through arrangements with the BEAC.
