| Obverse description | A highly detailed view of a tall ship's deck rendered in high relief, dominated by a large ship's steering wheel occupying the central field. The mast rises vertically through the design, flanked by rigging ropes and ratlines extending to the upper left and right. A helmet is visible behind the wheel near the base of the mast. The ornate series legend 'Golden Age of Sail' arcs across the upper field in elaborate script lettering. The issuer legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN', the denomination '2000 FRANCS CFA', the date '2019', and the fineness mark 'Ag999' appear along the lower and right periphery. |

Queen Anne's Revenge was the flagship of Blackbeard — Edward Teach — captured from French slavers in 1717 and refitted with additional guns before he ran her aground off Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina in 1718. Whether intentional or not remains debated; some accounts suggest he deliberately wrecked her to consolidate crew and plunder. The wreck was located in 1996 and has been under active archaeological excavation since, recovering thousands of artifacts including cannon, anchors, and medical instruments.
BEAC issues coins for six member states under a shared monetary framework, and pirate-themed bullion is a reliable revenue stream for central banks with limited collector markets of their own.
