Obverse description The obverse is struck in the highly sculpted form of an ornate antique key, with the bow at the upper portion featuring an open circular loop and elaborate Baroque-style relief ornamentation. The shank descends centrally through a richly decorated oval cartouche bearing the inscription, while the bit extends horizontally to the left and right, terminating in finely rendered teeth. The central cartouche displays the legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN across the upper field, with 2000 FRANCS CFA, 2oz Ag 999, and 2025 inscribed in successive registers below, all framed by intricate foliate and scroll relief typical of high-relief numismatic art. The entire surface is finished with a uniform gold plating over antique-finished .999 silver, accentuating the three-dimensional depth of the design.

Additional information

Cameroon's CFA franc is issued under BEAC authority, meaning Yaoundé has no independent monetary policy — yet the country periodically authorizes collector issues like this one through private minting arrangements that operate entirely outside the BEAC framework. The denomination is nominal; no 2000-franc coin circulates.

The irregular oval flan — 60 by 66.6 mm — is a deliberate production choice to accommodate an elongated composition, a format increasingly common among European mint contractors producing African-denominated collector pieces for the international numismatic market rather than any domestic audience.
