Reverse description Detailed interior scene depicting György Cziffra seated at a grand piano in full performance, set within a Gothic-vaulted concert hall with pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and elaborate stained-glass windows visible in the background. A suspended oval chandelier hangs above the pianist, and ornamental columns frame the composition on both sides. Along the lower exergue, the country name 'MAGYARORSZÁG' appears in bold capital letters above the denomination '2000 Ft'. The mint mark 'BP.' and the year '2021' are inscribed to the right of the central scene.

Additional information

György Cziffra fled Hungary after the failed 1956 uprising, eventually settling in France where he built one of the most celebrated piano careers of the twentieth century. This coin marks the centenary of his birth. In 1966 he founded the Franz Liszt Foundation in Versailles, restoring the Chapelle royale de Senlis as a concert venue — a project that consumed much of his later life and finances.
