Additional information

The Magyar Nemzeti Bank was established in 1924, not 1914 — making this coin's "90th anniversary" calculation worth a second look. Hungary had no independent central bank before that date; the Austro-Hungarian Bank handled monetary affairs until the dissolution of the Habsburg empire forced successor states to build their own institutions from scratch. The MNB opened its doors on June 24, 1924, under conditions of catastrophic postwar inflation that had already wiped out the korona.

The copper-nickel commemorative format was by 2014 a well-worn vehicle for Hungarian anniversary issues, with the 2000 forint face value chosen specifically for non-circulating collector pieces.
