| Obverse description | Diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right after Ian Rank-Broadley, set within an ornate baroque scrollwork frame at center. The legend NIUE ISLAND arcs along the upper periphery, with 2000 DOLLARS inscribed vertically along the left field and 2012 vertically along the right field. Below the effigy, the name ELIZABETH II appears in the field, with the fineness mark AU 999.9 at lower center.
