The date 1976 appears divided on either side of the eagle's body, flanked by the mint mark MW. The denomination 200 ZŁ is boldly struck in large numerals across the lower portion of the field, with the abbreviation ZŁ appearing on both sides of the numeral. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery in Latin characters.

Reverse description The reverse features a stylized modernist design by Anna Jarnuszkiewicz depicting an athlete's head in left profile, rendered as a series of bold horizontal parallel bands or striations that traverse the full width of the coin. Overlaid upon this abstract composition are the five interlocking Olympic rings in relief, positioned centrally across the figure. The word PRÓBA (trial) appears in the right field, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. The circular legend IGRZYSKA XXI OLIMPIADY runs along the upper periphery, with a small dot separating the inscription at lower left.

Additional information

The 200 Złotych Olympic series of 1976 was produced to commemorate Poland's participation in the Montreal Games, with the gold circulation strikes intended as hard-currency earners — sold abroad at a premium during a period when the Polish government desperately needed Western exchange. This nickel trial piece never reached that commercial pipeline. Trial strikes of this type were produced internally at Mennica Państwowa to test dies and establish striking parameters before committing to the final precious-metal production runs.

The nickel composition here, cross-referenced across three catalog systems, confirms this is the ParM#P422b variant rather than the more commonly encountered P422a.
