Obverse description The obverse features the Polish state eagle with wings spread, rendered in a stylized socialist-era heraldic style, centrally positioned in the field. The eagle faces right and displays detailed feathering across its body and wings. The date 1976 is divided on either side of the eagle's body, with 19 to the left and 76 to the right. The denomination 200 appears in large numerals along the lower portion of the field, flanked by the abbreviation ZŁ on each side. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs around the upper periphery of the coin.

Additional information

Poland issued gold and silver commemoratives for the 1976 Montreal Games through official channels, but this nickel trial strike exists outside that program entirely — a pre-production test piece struck to evaluate dies, not for circulation or sale. The Fischer and ParM references confirm it as a documented pattern rather than a fantasie, which matters considerably for attribution. Trial strikes in base metal from the communist-era Mennica Państwowa rarely surfaced through legitimate channels before 1989.
