| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylized modernist depiction of a footballer in dynamic motion, rendered in outline relief against a grid-patterned background representing a goalmouth net. The figure is shown in a striking pose reaching upward toward a football positioned at the upper right of the field. A multiline inscription occupying the left portion of the field reads XII MISTRZOSTWA ŚWIATA W PIŁCE NOŻNEJ HISZPANIA 1982. The engraver's initials JM-N appear in a cartouche at the lower left, accompanied by the trial designation PRÓBA, while the legend ESPAÑA 82 is inscribed along the lower rim. |

Poland's 1982 World Cup gold issues were struck in a politically fractured country — martial law had been declared in December 1981, Solidarity was suppressed, and the mint was operating under military governance. Trial strikes like this nickel piece document the design approval process under those conditions, produced in base metal before the authorized gold and silver emissions were confirmed. The reference spread across KM, ParM, and Fischer reflects how thoroughly Polish numismatists have catalogued the proof and pattern material from this period, which was issued partly for hard-currency export.
