| Obverse description | At center, the Polish state eagle displayed, crowned, with wings spread and talons clutching, rendered within a polished inner circle. Surrounding the eagle is an ornate interlaced filigree border of scrolling foliate and geometric motifs in a romanesque style, itself enclosed by a raised rim bearing the outer legend. The circumferential legend reads RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA with the mint mark MW and denomination 200 ZŁ, and the date 1997 flanked by cross pattée ornaments at the base of the coin. |

| Reverse description | Central field depicts a full-length frontal figure of Saint Wojciech (Adalbert) in episcopal vestments, mitered and holding a crozier, rendered in a medieval romanesque seal-like style within a pointed vesica or mandorla frame. Flanking the central figure on the left and right are smaller narrative scenes of figures, evoking the martyrdom of the saint, all set against a polished field. The inscription TYSIĄCLECIE ŚMIERCI ŚWIĘTEGO WOJCIECHA (Millennium of the Death of Saint Wojciech) runs along the two sides of the central mandorla frame. The entire composition is enclosed by the same elaborate interlaced foliate border as the obverse, with a small engraver's initial E visible in the lower right field. |
