Reverse description A finely detailed bust-length portrait of Bolesław III Krzywousty (Bolesław III Wrymouth, r. 1102–1138) faces the viewer in a near-frontal presentation, rendered in high relief with strong sculptural modeling. The medieval ruler is depicted wearing an ornate conical helmet with a nasal guard and a richly decorated suit of chainmail armor adorned with a circular medallion at the chest. The inscription BOLESŁAW III KRZYWOUSTY arcs across the upper field in two segments divided by the figure's helmet, while the regnal dates 1102–1138 appear in the lower field. The word PRÓBA, indicating trial or pattern status, is inscribed to the right of the portrait in the field. The composition is set against a deeply mirrored proof-like background characteristic of Polish pattern coinage of this period.
