Reverse description Central depiction of Zhang Heng's seismoscope (地动仪), a large ornate bronze vessel decorated with eight dragon heads and surrounded by toad figures at its base, set against a mirror-polished proof field. To the left, a group of robed Han dynasty court figures observe astronomical phenomena amid stylized cloud motifs rendered in fine relief. The inscription 地动仪 公元(AD)二世纪 appears to the upper left in Chinese characters, identifying the instrument and its dating to the 2nd century AD. The denomination 200元 is inscribed in bold relief in the lower central field.
