The Farmers Bank of Chung-Chou operated in Henan Province and was one of several provincial agricultural banks absorbed into — or competing alongside — the broader nationalist financial apparatus during the civil war period. By 1948, hyperinflation had made high-denomination notes like this one practically obsolete almost from the moment of issue; the 200 Yuan face value would have bought almost nothing as the gold yuan reform collapsed that same year.
This is a back proof — printed on one side only, likely pulled for approval or archival purposes rather than full production. Such proofs frequently survive in better condition than issued notes precisely because they never entered circulation.
