Obverse lettering 行銀民人國中 圓佰貳 印年八十三國民華中
(Translation: People's Bank of China Two Hundred Yuan Printed in year 38 of the Chinese Republic)
Reverse description The reverse is printed in olive-brown tones and dominated by an elaborate central guilloche medallion bearing the numeral 200, enclosed within a quatrefoil frame and surrounded by dense lathe-work scrollwork. The denomination numeral 200 is repeated three times in the flanking rectangular panels to the left and right, and again in the four outer corners. The bank name 中國人民銀行 arcs across the top of the central medallion, with the year 1949 inscribed at its base.
