Additional information

Kemel Aqyshev served as Chairman of the Gosbank of the Kazakh SSR before becoming the first Governor of the National Bank of an independent Kazakhstan in 1991 — the man who, in effect, built the institution now issuing this coin in his honor. The commemorative marks what would have been his centennial birth year.
