| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Luís I of Portugal in left-facing profile, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair and a short beard. Portugal's 200 réis silver coinage under Luís I spans a reign defined more by constitutional instability than by monetary innovation. The Regeneração governments of the 1860s–80s pushed through successive fiscal reforms that repeatedly disrupted the mint's production schedules, resulting in sharply uneven annual mintages across the type's run.
