Additional information

This piece is one of a series the Royal Mint launched under its "Music Legends" program, which began in 2020 with Queen — a collaboration that required negotiation with the band's surviving members and the estates of Freddie Mercury and John Deacon's co-ownership interests in the Queen back catalogue. The two-ounce gold proof format places it at the top of a tiered release that also included silver and base-metal versions, all struck to proof standard at Llantrisant.

Mintage for the gold two-ounce proof was capped at 350 pieces.
