The Verband Nationalgesinnter Soldaten — the League of Nationally Minded Soldiers — was one of dozens of paramilitary veterans' associations that proliferated in Weimar Germany after 1918, and like many of them, it issued its own emergency currency during the inflationary spiral of the early 1920s. The Ordensrat, the order council within the organization, authorized this 200 Pfennig note through printer M. Pathe, an otherwise minor regional press. The inclusion of a watermark at this denomination is notable — most Notgeld of comparable value dispensed with such features entirely.
