The denomination itself — 200 Pfennig, an awkward two-Mark equivalent — reflects the transitional moment when the old Pfennig denominations were still in official use but rapidly becoming meaningless against accelerating price rises. Within months, municipal notes of this kind would be superseded by denominations in the millions.
