Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The emblematic design is flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, tied together at the base.
