Obverse description Central device features the Mexican national coat of arms: a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, devouring a rattlesnake, rendered in fine detail at the centre of the field. The eagle is flanked at the base by a laurel branch to the left and an oak (encino) branch to the right. The national legend arcs around the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering.
