Obverse description Blue-black intaglio print on white cotton paper with a central vignette of a seated allegorical female figure of Justice holding scales, set within an oval guilloche frame. The denomination '200' appears in large numerals at upper left and upper right, with the issuer's title 'THE BANK OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS' across the top and 'TWO HUNDRED PESOS' in bold lettering below; the date 'Manila, P.I., January 1, 1928' is inscribed at lower left alongside the serial number, with the bank's circular seal in blue at the right. Two manuscript signatures appear at the lower centre, attributed to the Cashier and President respectively.
