The 200 Maloti was the highest denomination in circulation when Lesotho introduced this series in 1994, a period when the country's monetary policy remained tightly linked to South Africa through the Common Monetary Area — the Maloti pegged at par with the Rand, as it still is. De La Rue's production run covered nearly a decade, with at least two signature combinations across that span, suggesting routine administrative turnover rather than any reissue event.
The watermark remains the sole listed security feature, which was already lean for a high-value note by mid-1990s standards.
