Angola's 2012 note series marked a significant redenomination recovery — the kwanza readjusted had by then survived the inflationary chaos of the 1990s, when the country was still at war and earlier kwanza iterations had collapsed entirely. The 200 denomination sits in the middle of a series printed by Goznak in Moscow, a supplier Angola had turned to as part of broader economic relationships with Russia stretching back to Soviet-era military and technical cooperation.

Goznak's involvement is worth noting. The Moscow facility has printed currency for dozens of states since the Soviet collapse, often for countries with limited access to Western security printers like De La Rue or Canadian Bank Note Company.
