Slava Raškaj (1877–1906) was a Croatian watercolorist who lost her hearing as an infant and spent her final years institutionalized, dying at twenty-eight. Her reputation rested almost entirely on a short burst of work in the late 1890s, much of it produced at Ozalj, where she painted water lilies and riverside landscapes with a technique her contemporaries struggled to place in any recognizable school. The Croatian National Bank issued this coin in 2000 as part of a longer commemorative series honoring figures marginalized by mainstream art history.
The 200 kuna denomination was used exclusively for silver commemoratives — it never circulated as everyday currency.
