Reverse description The crowned and mantled Royal Arms of Sweden occupy the central field, flanked by lion supporters on either side and encircled by the chain of a royal order. The date 1999 is divided by the crowned shield, with the mint mark letter E to the left and the initial B of the Riksbank Governor's surname to the right. The denomination 200 KRONOR appears in the lower field, while the legend SVERIGE and the commemorative inscription ÅR 2000 complete the design, referencing the New Millennium theme. The heraldic elements are rendered with fine detail consistent with Swedish royal numismatic tradition.

Additional information

Sweden's millennium commemorative was struck at a moment when the Riksbank was navigating public skepticism toward the euro — Sweden had declined eurozone membership following its 1994 accession to the EU, and this issue landed squarely in that atmosphere of deliberate monetary independence. The coin was produced by the Mint of Finland in Vantaa, which had taken over Swedish commemorative production after the closure of the Stockholm mint in 1974.

KM#898 is occasionally found with uneven toning from original government packaging, a known characteristic of several late-1990s Swedish issues sealed in the Riksbank's acetate holders.
