| Obverse description | The obverse features a left-facing bust of Pope Paul VI wearing a skullcap and clerical vestments, occupying the left portion of the field. To the right of the papal effigy, a pair of clasped praying hands rises prominently in high relief. In the lower central field, a detailed rendering of St. Peter's Basilica and its colonnaded piazza in Vatican City is depicted with radiating lines suggesting divine light. The curved legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI arcs along the upper rim, while the date in Roman numerals MCMLXXV and the inscription ANNUS SANCTUS appear in the lower exergue, all within a beaded border. |

The 1974–75 Holy Year issue was part of a wave of Haitian commemorative gold struck almost entirely for the international collector market, not domestic circulation. Jean-Claude Duvalier had recently inherited power from his father François in 1971, and the regime actively licensed foreign firms to produce commemorative coins as a hard-currency revenue stream — a practice that generated income while real economic conditions in Haiti deteriorated sharply.
Two KM numbers reflect separate issues within the Holy Year program, likely distinguished by finish or packaging rather than substantive design differences.
