| Additional information |
Ádám Mányoki was the Hungarian-born portraitist who spent much of his career at the Dresden court of Augustus the Strong, where he painted the definitive portrait of Ferenc Rákóczi II — the very image that became the basis for this coin's design. The 1977 issue marked the 300th anniversary of Mányoki's birth. Hungary's commemorative silver program of the 1970s was prolific, and pieces from this run circulated primarily as collector issues rather than through any conventional monetary channel.
