Obverse description The obverse depicts a dynamic architectural composition celebrating the Gare de Metz, featuring the sweeping steel lattice canopy of the station's modern extension — designed by architect Jean-Marie Duthilleul — rendered in bold diagonal lines that dominate the upper field. Behind the canopy, the historic Romanesque facade and clock tower of the original station building are visible in the lower central field. To the lower right, the classical stonework facade of the historic station is shown in relief. The legend GARE de METZ appears along the upper left arc in raised Latin lettering, with the Republican monogram RF positioned in the right field.
