| Obverse description | Within the copper-nickel centre, an upright Olympic torch with stylized flame occupies the left field, accompanied to the right by the Portuguese coat of arms rendered as five escutcheons arranged in a quincunx pattern. The denomination '200' and the word 'ESCUDOS' appear prominently in the lower centre of the inner disc, with the mint mark 'INCM' inscribed vertically at the right and the engraver's signature 'NOGUEIRA DA SILVA' along the lower left of the torch handle. The nickel brass outer ring carries the circular legend 'REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA' in the upper arc and the date '2000' in the lower arc, separated by decorative dots. |
