The 200 Emalangeni denomination was introduced as part of Eswatini's 2018 commemorative series marking fifty years of independence from Britain — the same series that debuted the country's new name, having dropped "Swaziland" by royal decree earlier that year. The renaming was King Mswati III's unilateral announcement, made on his birthday in April 2018, catching even some government officials off guard.
G+D's Leipzig facility has handled Swazi/Swati currency production for decades. The security package here is modest by current standards — no color-shifting ink, no raised print elements beyond what cotton substrate allows.
