Obverse descriptionThe field pattern repeats on the obverse, which features the platinum‑plated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, head of Queen Elizabeth II, as at 77 years of age, bare headed, wearing necklace and earrings, facing right. Effigy is accompanied by special marking consisting of double dates `1952` and `2022,` separated by four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins during the reign of Elizabeth II.

Reverse descriptionOur coin’s reverse features Walter Ott’s Gold Maple Leaf (GML) bullion design. Struck incuse, the iconic sugar maple leaf is plated with platinum and reaches a depth of 1.5 millimetres. Behind it, the “maple burst” field pattern includes a subtle nod to the GML’s 45th anniversary (1979-2024), in the form of a “45” micro-engraved on the leaves forming the centre ring.
