| Reverse description | The reverse presents Walter Ott's celebrated Gold Maple Leaf bullion design rendered in deeply struck incuse relief, with the iconic sugar maple leaf platinum-plated to a depth of 1.5 millimetres, creating a dramatic interplay between the precious metal surfaces. Surrounding the central maple leaf, an elaborate radiating maple burst field pattern frames the composition, with the fine gold purity and weight inscriptions arranged within the design. In recognition of the Gold Maple Leaf series' 45th anniversary (1979–2024), a micro-engraved "45" is incorporated into the leaves forming the central ring of the field pattern. The legends CANADA and FINE GOLD 2 OZ / OR PUR, along with the fineness designation 9999 9999, appear within the reverse field. |

The Super Incuse Maple Leaf design, introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2022, inverts the conventional relief approach by sinking the maple leaf deeply into the field rather than raising it — a deliberate technical challenge requiring modified striking pressure and die geometry. The platinum plating over .9999 gold creates a two-tone contrast that is a direct consequence of that incuse geometry, with the recessed surfaces catching the plating differently than a standard relief design would.
Issued in the name of Elizabeth II despite her death in September 2022, this 2024 date places it among the transitional pieces still carrying her effigy before the RCM completed its full migration to Charles III obverse dies.
