Additional information

The Solomon Islands has issued high-denomination gold pieces of this weight class almost exclusively for the international bullion collectibles market — they have no meaningful domestic circulation function in an economy where the highest circulating note was worth roughly USD $12 at the time of issue. The 155.5g specification corresponds to five troy ounces, a standard mass for premium commemorative bullion.

The 2018 Chinese Lunar year ran from February 16, with the Dog being the eleventh sign in the twelve-year cycle.
