The Trans-Siberian Railway took 25 years to complete, with construction beginning in 1891 under Tsar Alexander III and final through-routing achieved only after the Circum-Baikal loop opened in 1904. At over 9,200 kilometers, it remains the longest railway line in the world and was primarily driven by military and colonial logic — Saint Petersburg needed a way to move troops to the Far East after chronic anxieties about Japanese expansion in Manchuria proved entirely justified in 1905.
Cook Islands has been a prolific issuer of high-denomination gold collector pieces through the New Zealand–administered territory framework. The 155.5g specification places this coin at exactly five troy ounces.
