Additional information

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's ongoing 22-karat gold hologram series celebrating Canadian traditions, this 1995 issue depicts the maple syrup harvest — a practice rooted in Indigenous knowledge that French colonists adopted and commercialized by the 18th century. Quebec alone produces roughly 70% of the world's maple syrup supply, a dominance established well before Confederation.

The series was among the first in the world to successfully integrate holographic technology into a circulating-quality gold coin, a process the RCM developed in-house during the early 1990s.
