Additional information

Canada's fine gold Peace Dollar series reproduces the American Peace Dollar design under a licensing arrangement — an unusual instance of one sovereign mint paying tribute to another nation's coinage iconography. The RCM's five-nines gold standard (.99999) is among the purest commercially struck gold available, a refinement the Royal Canadian Mint has used as a consistent market differentiator since the introduction of the Gold Maple Leaf program in the 1970s.

The original American design dates to 1921, sculpted by Anthony de Francisci following a public competition. That the RCM chose this specific design for a premium gold vehicle in 2022 reflects sustained collector demand for Peace Dollar imagery a full century after its debut.
