| Reverse description | A finely detailed depiction of a kangaroo rendered in high relief, crouching in a restful pose amid native Australian flora including Waratah blossoms and Kangaroo Paw wildflowers. The design is executed with naturalistic detail, emphasizing the texture of the animal's fur and the delicate botanical elements surrounding it. The legend AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO arcs across the upper field, while the mint mark P, engraver's initials NM, date 2021, weight designation 2oz, and fineness 9999 GOLD appear in the lower field. |

The Perth Mint's two-ounce gold bullion program occupies an unusual position in the Australian market — these are legal tender coins produced under the Royal Australian Mint Act's licensing framework, but sold entirely on precious metal content rather than face value, which has been nominally fixed at 200 dollars since the series expanded in the 1990s. The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint later than most Commonwealth mints, creating a transitional period where Australian issues carried mismatched effigies across denominations.
KM#4239 is among the last issues to bear this portrait before the Queen's death in September 2022 closed the series.
