| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of The Gambia is centrally rendered in the field of this oval flan, depicting a shield charged with crossed axes flanked by two lions rampant as supporters, surmounted by a crest of an axe within foliage, and resting on a ribbon bearing the national motto PROGRESS PEACE PROSPERITY.
