Poland's early 1990s commemorative program was aggressive — the country was newly out of Communist governance and the Mint was actively courting foreign contract work while simultaneously rebuilding its domestic identity. This 200,000 złoty quincentennial piece was struck as a trial, meaning it never entered the approved release pipeline. Trial strikes from Mennica Polska in this period were produced in small numbers for internal approval and collector samples, with nickel used as a proofing material regardless of the intended final composition.
The Fischer Po#P413 reference confirms its trial status. Most survivors come from mint archives rather than open distribution.
