| Obverse description | At the center of the obverse, within a beaded inner circle, the Small State Emblem of Ukraine (trident) is flanked by decorative guelder-rose sprays. The year of issue, 1995, is inscribed above the emblem. Below the emblem, the face value legend КАРБОВАНЦІВ appears in two lines, with the numeral 200000 interrupted by the beaded ornamentation. In the outer border between the rim and the beaded circle, the circular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ runs around the periphery, separated from the denomination inscription by small rhombic ornamental dividers. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a central scene featuring the St. Sophia Cathedral ensemble on Sophia Square in Kyiv, with the equestrian monument to Bohdan Khmelnytsky visible before the cathedral facade. To the right, a young woman dressed in traditional Ukrainian national attire and holding flowers bows her head before an eternal flame, symbolizing independent Ukraine's reverence for those who perished in the Great Patriotic War. The upper periphery carries the circular legend ПЕРЕМОГА У ВЕЛИКІЙ ВІТЧИЗНЯНІЙ ВІЙНІ, and below a horizontal line in the lower field the dates 1941-1945 are inscribed, defining the war's duration. |

Issued on the 50th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, this coin appeared during one of the most economically turbulent periods in Ukrainian post-independence history. The karbovanets — a transitional currency introduced in 1992 to replace the Soviet ruble — was by 1995 suffering catastrophic inflation, with annual rates exceeding 280%. A 200,000-denomination coin was not an abstraction; it reflected genuine purchasing collapse.
Ukraine replaced the karbovanets with the hryvnia the following year, making this among the last commemorative issues in that currency. The Zahreba listings distinguish at least two variants, likely differing in edge treatment or alloy tolerances.
