Issued in November 2022 to commemorate Polish border guard personnel deployed along the Belarus frontier during the 2021–2022 migration crisis, this collector note entered circulation during an active geopolitical standoff — a rare case of a central bank issuing a commemorative note while the event it honours is still unfolding. The Lukashenko government's deliberate funnelling of migrants across the EU's eastern border prompted Poland to erect physical barriers and deploy thousands of troops, and NBP moved quickly to document that response in printed form.
