| Obverse description | The Polish state eagle, displayed without crown in the socialist heraldic style, occupies the central field with wings spread and talons clutching. The date 1974 is divided by the eagle's tail feathers at the lower centre, flanked by the mint mark 'MW' below. The denomination '20' in large numerals appears at the bottom, framed on either side by the abbreviation 'ZŁ' and diamond-shaped stops.
