Additional information

The *Dar Pomorza* — a Polish full-rigged frigate built in Hamburg in 1909 — became a training vessel for the Polish merchant navy after Poland regained access to the Baltic following the Versailles settlement. This 1980 issue commemorates the ship's long service career, which stretched into the late 1970s. Trial strikes like this one were produced in alternative compositions before the final silver circulation issue was approved; the nickel format was rejected, making survivors genuinely scarce pieces of Polish mint documentation rather than circulation coinage.
