| Reverse description | A full-length frontal figure of Christ in Majesty is depicted at the center, standing within a pointed oval glory (mandorla) formed by a beaded border and surrounded by a ring of fourteen six-pointed stars. Christ raises his right hand in benediction and holds a closed book in his left, rendered in bold relief against the plain field. The mandorla and star arrangement echo the classic Venetian zecchino iconographic tradition, here monumentally scaled for the multiple-ducat format. The circular legend SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV·REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT· runs along the outer periphery, the well-known votive inscription invoking Christ as ruler and dedicating the ducat to his glory. The reverse design closely follows the long-standing Venetian gold coinage tradition, adapted to the larger flan of this prestigious twenty-zecchini piece. |
