This note belongs to the First Series Renminbi, issued during active civil war while the Communist Party was still consolidating territorial control — the People's Bank of China had only been established in December 1948, and printing infrastructure was fragmented across liberated zones. Multiple regional facilities produced First Series notes, and consistency between print runs was never guaranteed.
P#822 is among the scarcer denominations of the series. Genuine examples have been extensively counterfeited in the modern collector market, and authentication requires close attention to paper texture and intaglio depth.
