Additional information

The Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge, completed in June 1998, was the largest infrastructure project in Bangladesh's history and the eleventh longest bridge in the world at the time of its opening. Connecting the previously isolated northwest of the country to Dhaka, it cut travel time between regions from over twelve hours by ferry to under two. The commemorative was issued the same year the bridge opened.
