Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a seated allegorical female figure, reclining against a ornate chair with classical drapery, rendered in a finely engraved style. The bank title EL BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR arcs across the top in bold letterpress, with the legend SOCIEDAD ANONIMA and CAPITAL AUTORIZADO 20,000,000 Sucres below it. Denomination numerals 20 appear in guilloche medallions at left and right, with the place of issue QUITO and date printed in the lower field alongside the payable clause PAGARA AL PORTADOR A LA VISTA VEINTE SUCRES.
