| Reverse description | The central field features a large stylised sheaf of rice plants in high relief, with long pointed leaves spreading outward and flanked symmetrically by two drooping rice-laden branches, evoking the agricultural heritage of Vietnam. The denomination numeral 20 appears to the left of the sheaf and the denomination unit SU to the right, both in bold raised lettering. The country name VIỆT-NAM curves along the upper arc in Latin script, while the word ESSAI is inscribed in small capitals at the lower right of the field, identifying this as a pattern strike.
