| Obverse description | The Somali national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a heraldic shield bearing a five-pointed star, supported by two leopards rampant facing inward and surmounted by a crest of five ostrich feathers. Crossed spears and an olive branch appear beneath the shield. The bilingual legend REPUBBLICA DEMOCRATICA SOMALA arcs across the upper periphery in Latin, with the Arabic equivalent inscribed within the inner circle. The dates 1960 and 1970 flank the arms at left and right respectively, while the commemorative inscription X ANNIVERSARIO INDIPENDENZA appears along the lower border in Latin, accompanied by the Arabic equivalent above it. |
